Pittsford Rotary Food Drive Saturday, June 6th

The Rotary Club of Pittsford’s next monthly drive-thru food drive is scheduled Saturday (June 6) from 9 am to noon at the Pittsford Sutherland High School bus loop. Rotarians and Interact Club members will be collecting at the drive rain or shine.

Donations will support the Pittsford Food Cupboard and the Nazareth University Oak Tree Food Pantry.

The Pittsford Food Cupboard plays a crucial role in addressing food insecurity within our community. Donations help ensure that local families have access to essential food items and will promote well-being and stability. See the cupboard’s list of current needs.

The Oak Tree Pantry serves those with food insecurity in the Nazareth community. The pantry has an ongoing need for granola bars, pasta, peanut butter, soap and other hygiene products.

The drive also will collect donations of gently used, current magazines for distribution to area human service organizations. The club conducts the drives the first Saturday of the month all year with an occasional change of date to avoid holiday and event conflicts.

Pittsford Rotary Conducting Bike Collection and Food Drive May 2

Trying to get rid of those old, unused bicycles? Donate it in any condition at our annual Bike Drop May 2 at Pittsford Mendon High School (472 Mendon Road) from 11 a.m to 3 p.m. We're doing the collection in conjunction with the Town of Pittsford. At the same time, bring a donation to our monthly Drive-Thru Food Drive at the same location. The club is moving the food drive to Mendon High School for May only and will return to Sutherland High School In June.

Rotarians, students from the Interact Club and volunteers from the Women’s Club of Pittsford will be collecting unwanted bicycles (including old, damaged bikes) to give to R Community Bikes. They also will be collecting food items for the Pittsford Food Cupboard and the Nazareth University Oak Tree Food Pantry.

Current Food Cupboard needs are taco shells, canned beets, olives, mushrooms, coconut milk, chicken broth, pancake mix, meals in a can, dry dog and cat pet food, and any cleaning supplies. They also will be collecting gently used current magazines (past 12 months).

For the Bike Drop, bicycles or bike parts in any condition will be accepted for donation. The bicycles and parts will be donated to R Community Bikes, a Rochester-based charitable organization that repairs and distributes bicycles free of charge to Rochester’s children and adults in need. If a donor is not able drop off the bicycle, call 585-234-2008 and a pick-up will be arranged.

“Pittsford’s Rotary Club has collected more than 3,000 used bikes since 2010,” said club president, Richard Colby. “It’s a good time of the year to spring clean your garage while helping people in need.”

For many, bikes are frequently the most affordable means of transportation to jobs, schools, churches, rehabilitation and training programs, and meals at local social service agencies.
