Geothermal systems do not emit greenhouse gases. They are green; no pollution or other environmental hazards. Geothermal heat pumps take existing heat and move it; the heat source is the earth. Geothermal heat pumps are versatile because they are heating and cooling systems all in one! When it's cooling, it takes the heat from the home and transfers it to the cooler earth. When heating, the process is reversed. The geothermal heat pumps transfer either through groundwater, or an underground earth loop. 
Geothermal systems almost immediately start paying for themselves. They are very energy efficient. Once a system is installed, the savings in operating costs generally offset the finance cost. Recouping the purchase of a system takes an average of seven to eight years.
