Whether you are heating or cooling your home, energy efficiency is key! Marsh Insulation tells us that most homes in our area have very little or no insulating value at the rim joists. That's an open invitation for air leakage! In fact, Marsh Insulation also tells us that it's the most vulnerable area of a home for air leakage. But, you ask, what are rim joists??? A rim joist is the board that rests on the sill - Generally a 2 x 8 or 2 x 10 board. It sits on top of the cinder block.
