We live in Western New York.  We are used to snow.  Still, we shouldn't become complacent about driving in inclement weather!

Rule Number 1 - Stay off the roads if at all possible in inclement weather!

If you must be out during inclement weather be sure you have an emergency kit packed and in your vehicle.

Make sure your cell phone is fully charged before you leave home.  Keep it plugged in while traveling so it maintains a full charge.

Make sure your vehicle has a full tank of gas before you leave, or fill it up as soon as you can.

Pack your snow brush, a small shovel, rope, a flashlight, flares, a first aid kit, jumper cables, a blanket, warm gloves, hat and scarf, and a blanket.

You should have snacks and water bottles in your vehicle before setting out in inclement weather as well.

It's a good idea to keep a bag of kitty liter or a bag of sand in your vehicle in the event you need better traction.
