The month of August is named after Augustus Caesar, the first Roman Emperor.  And obviously the 8th month, if you were born in August you're a Leo or  Virgo, as you well know! August is associated with the end of summer, some kids go back to school, some parents are looking forward to September when others go back! In Upstate New York we want the nice weather to continue before we have to start preparing for what's to come!

Would you like the Orange Creamsicle Moonshine recipe?   Just don't partake then operate machinery - it's so good!

1 1/2 cups of white sugar

4 cups of water

1 cup of orange juice concentrate (thawed)

2 teaspoons of vanilla extract

2 cups of 190-proof grain alcohol or high-proof vodka

1 cup of half-and-half or heavy cream for creamier version

Equipment;

large saucepan

funnel

large mixing bowl

glass jars or bottles for storing

Directions;

1. Prepare the simple syrup; In a large saucepan, combine white sugar & water. Bring to a boil, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved. Allow the simple syrup to cool.

2. Add Orange Flair; Stir in the thawed orange juice concentrate and vanilla extract in the cooled simple syrup. Mix well to ensure even distribution of flavors.

3. Bring on the Spirits; Pour in the 190-proof grain alcohol or high-proof vodka, into the mixture.Stir to combine, creating the base of your moonshine.

4. Creamy Finish; For a creamy touch, add half-and-half to the mixture. If you prefer a richer version, opt for heavy cream. Blend until the consistency is smooth.

5. Bottle it up!   Using a funnel, carefully pour the Orange Creamsicle Moonshine into glass jars or bottles for storing. Ensure they are sealed tightly to preserve the freshness.
