October! How are we here already!!

Now on to home repair! This is when you should be getting the jobs done you didn't do in September to prepare for winter!  Putting lawn furniture away, closing the pool - you are behind! Removing screens or screen doors, if needed. Very important - making sure you have your furnace maintained by a professional. Possibly have your snow tires installed or make an appointment for November. Check your snowblower that it's ready to go, you never know when we will get snow!  Get your snow shovels out, remove the rust on them! You get it, just be prepared! Hire a snow plow service. Stake out your driveway so snowplow drivers know where edges, etc. are located.

The Pittsford Rotary regularly has food drives at the Pittsford Sutherland High School bus loop, Saturdays 9:00 am - noon. They have various food pantries they collect for. A.C.E.S Energy has started a Geo Thermal System at Jim Salmon's house! Obviously, Jim is very excited! This is such an interesting concept. For this system they dug down 500'! The truck is incredible and has these giant drill bits that dig down through dirt, shale, bedrock, water then they place another long casing type pipe. Once that's in place, then the tubing gets set which goes down to the bottom and back to the top. These are very simple terms, not explained well, but it is an amazing technology.

One thing you'll notice about your house especially when it's windy is how the wind drafts right inside! Boy oh boy, when it's cold out and the wind is blowing you feel it indoors and it's not good! What is going on? Well, generally it means you have no insulation or very poor insulation. Not only is cold coming in but heat is going out!   Coler Insulation does spray foam!
